Conformity

In Beyond Feeling, Vincent Ran Ruggiero states individual is lazy and fearful for making a decision for the whole group. In Essential of Understanding Psychology, Robert S. Feldman states people behave and follow their belief as a whole group. In Group minds, Doris Lessing states individual cannot stand alone and he/she would seek groups to be with. I think this is positive for lazy minded people wanting to follow a trustworthy group by having the right attitude and behavior. You must follow and understand the group's standard and belief; therefore, it will be a great influence to other people.
Individual can be mindless and unreasonable in making decision for his/her group of friends; however, individual would follow the group's decision. When you are with your group of friends, it is not easy to speak your mind or do the things you would like to do because you fear that you would make the worst or wrong decision. You fear the embarrassment that the group would disagree with your decision; evidently, you have to consider their favors. Ruggiero states the individual is "behaving as others do is conformity. In some situation conformity is the wisest course of action in contrast, mindless conformity is unreasonable and in many cases unreasoning. It consist of following others" example because we are too lazy or fearful to think for ourselves" (89) When I am lazy minded person, I want the group to make the decision because I do not want to think or decide for the group. I can trust my group of friends on making the decisions because they will not put me in any harm while I do not care what the decision will be. Individual would allow the group to make the decisions, so he/she intends not to waste any effort on thinking for his/her group. Lazy and simple-minded individual would rather go with the flow than make their own decision for the group because he/she can trust the group with confidence.
