Narcissus was a hero that was of lovely youth. His loveliness attracted all the girls. Even though he was a very popular fellow, he did not go for these girls that wished to be his. One included Echo, who was the prettiest of the nymphs. Artemis was very fond of Echo, but she was not pleased with Hera, a powerful goddess that was always trying to find out what Zeus was considered as. She presumed that he loved a nymph, so she investigated on which one it was. Without delay she turned aside her spying act when she heard the happy gossip of Echo.
