change of heart when she realizes that John is the man for her. She

realizes this after spending the night and sleeping with Steven. Once the

guilt set in, Ann wanted to do anything to make up for her mistake. In thebeginning of the story, Ann tries to do anything to keep her mind off of her marital problems such as painting the house. Later on at the end of

the story, she cannot rest until she has made her amends with John. But it was a little too late! I think that Ann is a very self-centered character inthe story as well. I feel this way because she feels so highly about herself

that she criticizes John in everything that he does.
