Richard Nixon grew up under a Quaker influence, which immediately set him apart from the average American. To the public, he seemed awkward and was often mocked. His peers described him as a “mild and tolerant man, with a shy yet confident disposition”(biography.com, 2). With such an unobtrusive and maladroit personality, it came as a shock to many that Nixon capable of lying and surreptitiously covering scandals

The situation of Richard Nixon is a great parallel to the Story of Hester Prynne. He made a error, and the world saw it and punished him in the way they saw fit. This error and the ensuing castigation suggests a link between Hester and Nixon. Obviously, these two share a relation that cannot be denied.
