Courage is not those heroic acts we see watching superman nor is it those muscle bound men with super strength. But it is a combination of persistence, patience, determination, honesty, compassion, and love that makes true courage and strength an effective and influential but yet a fragile tool. A tool possessed by all but unaware of it’s existence within us. It blooms during the most disturbing times of our lives and when we think there’s nothing more to fight with or will to go on, it bursts through those chaotic situations like sunbeams fighting through stormy clouds to shine on then fades away into its shadowy domain only to live on to fight another day.
Just when life seems dreadfully darkened with those utter feelings of loneliness,
family was being stripped of our mother. After absorbing the trauma we somehow managed to pull together as if we were merged into one body and mind. We found strength and courage in each other to get through that terrifying experience.
This unique combination knows no age limit it lives in the young as well. Children posses the most courage and strength among us all, they speak with total honesty and that indeed is truly courageous. I’ve heard of a child that approached an elderly stranger that was crying he had just lost his wife. The child sat on this mans lap and watched him cry and not a word was spoken. Upon returning to his mother, she asked him “what did you say to the man?” and the he replied, “nothing mom, I just helped him cry.
