Many historians tend to argue which of the United States presidents was truly the greatest. A recent poll helped determine which presidents were truly great and which presidents were truly failuars, they judged the presidents with just standards as leadership qualities, accomplishments, crisis, management, political skills, and integrity. Abraham Lincoln received one of the highest makes as a very important president. I also strongly agree with Abraham Lincoln being marked as a great president. Abraham Lincoln was president during a time of war, the Civil War. The American Civil War split the nation if half north and south, free states against slave states, no other American president had to go though a time when the nation was split apart in war. Lincoln showed his excellent leadership qualities by abolishing slavery and uniting the north with south. At the battle of Gettysburg, Lincoln made one of the most famous speeches in history when he announced "that this nation under god, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that the government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth."
