Grapes of Wrath
The Grapes of Wrath it’s a movie about an Oklahoma family that has set out to find wealth in California during the Great Depression. It all starts with a character named Tom Joad, Tom gets a lift at a truck stop and tells the driver he has been liberated from prison in McAlester, for murdering and he is heading home. After the lift, during his walk home he meets Jim Casey, a preacher who has given up his calling, after that, they go to Tom’s house looking for his family, but the Joad farm and all those around it are deserted. They are told by this guy, that the Joads are living with Tom’s Uncle John. Tom decided to go there, and arriving at Uncle John’s house, they learn that the family has lost their farm, thanks to the Dust Bowl and they are now making preparations to sell their belongings and move to California in search of promised work. They get on the car and take the Highway 66 which is the main migrant road, from the Mississippi to Bakersfield, across the desert to the mountains and into the rich California valleys.With Casey accompanying them, the Joads encounter many hardships on the road west. Grandpa dies the first night. As they continue with their journey crossing the border into California
