Living in a world of greed is a thing of today. Capitalism is the reason for this. As a society, people are taught that instinct breeds greed and that status can only be determined by the possession of material wealth. This is very much untrue. Laws have changed as a result of capitalism. Instead of protecting the good of the people laws now protect the good of the companies. Finally, society is taught that capitalism is a positive thing. By looking out for one’s own self solely there will be a positive outcome. Some beg to differ.
The myth that humans need greed and have always been greedy is not true. When one reads up about ancient civilizations and sees that the Spartan citizens lived their life to serve their country. From the age of 8 their training began. They had no desire of guilt. They had no possessions to want more of. In the Iroquois society the number of scalps one collected determined one’s status. They had no want of material wealth. They were most certainly a people of instinct and they had no greed. Capitalism has destroyed certain values form the law as it puts making money ahead of all else. And finally, capitalism is not a thing of instinct it is a thing that is taught.
