Love Don’t Cost a Thing was an extremely entertaining movie. While watching, viewers will greatly enjoy themselves and have a good laugh. The familiar plot line is simple and easy to follow, which makes the movie hardly thought requiring. People enjoy a decent movie where they can “kick back and relax” for a few hours and not work their brain. When screening this movie, viewers may think to themselves that they have seen this movie before. This is because Love Don’t Cost a Thing is a remake of the 1987 film starring Patrick Dempsey, Can’t Buy Me Love. However, the new film adds detail and new “flavor” to the plot. The acting in this movie is very successful. Nick Cannon’s transformation from geek to sleek is so smooth that it gives the movie a real flow. Cannon previously had a show on Nickelodeon and made his major film debut, despite small appearances here and there, with the hit movie Drumline in 2002. He began as a comedian and is still very much one. Cannon brings plenty of humor to this screen. Christina Milian makes her major film debut with this movie. Audiences may recognize her from the MTV series Wannabe. Her first performance as an actress is very strong. Milian has no trouble portraying the popular, beautiful cheerleader who dates a professional basketball player. Especially entertaining and comical was Steve Harvey’s performance as Alvin’s father who is anxious for Alvin to date girls. Harvey’s scenes are absolutely hysterical and the team of Harvey and Cannon is a definite success. ashes her mothers escalade after being warned not to drive it, she definitely notices Alvin.
