Bayardo san roman in Chronicle of a death foretold
“Chronicle of a Death Foretold” by Gabriel Garcia MarquezIn life there are certain people that you know you shouldn’t like but this isn’t always the case. In the novel “Chronicle of a Death Foretold” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez one of the main characters – Bayardo San Roman – is typically a non-hero whom people shouldn’t like but I like him, as he is romantic. One of the reasons that show that Bayardo isn’t typically heroic is that he is pathetic. He decides to go and look for a bride – to do this he goes to lots of different towns “I’ve been going from town to town looking for someone to marry” this is proof that he’s pathetic because he should have either stayed in his hometown or settled in another and got a job. He should realise that life doesn’t revolve around love and that he would probably find it if he settled down. I don’t think this is typically heroic as a hero doesn’t search frantically for someone to love. Another thing that shows Bayardo not to be typically heroic is that he is cruel. After going from town to town he finally meets Angela Vicario and falls “in love” with her. He gets married to her and on their wedding night makes love to her for the first time
