Divorce has become the trend for many parents in today’s society. If you have marital problems just get divorced; why not it has become so easy to do it? Research is done on children of young ages, and the impact that it has on them, but what about the older children? Sometimes people forget that college students do have feelings towards what has gone on in their past. These problems can sometimes lead to learning disabilities, and maybe even depression that may not show up on the charts until they are stressed in college. Among adolescents, several behavioral changes have been observed as a result of divorce/separation trauma in the home. “A sudden lack of confidence in ability to perform previously mastered tasks and the presence of feelings of instability leading to withdrawal from classroom activities are common.”(Phillips, and Asbury, 1993) The study compared subjects whose natural parents were divorced or separated with subjects
