The NBA

The first basketball game was played at the school for Christian Workers in Springfield, Massachusetts, on December 21, 1891. When basketball was invented by James Naismith it was intended as a form of exercise not a sport. It was a low scoring game where there were 9 players to a side and they shot a ball at a peach basket. It did not have an opening at the bottom and they had to climb a ladder to retrieve the ball. Although it was not invented until 1891. Another similar game using a ball and a basket previously existed. Ollamalitzli was played with a rubber ball and a stone ring by the Aztecs in the 16th century. The player who scored was entitled to the clothing of the spectators. Players on the opposing side were less fortunate because the captain of the losing team had his head cut off.

Many basketball players were political stars as well. Al Gore was a member of the 1966 Harvard team, he averaged nearly 3 points per game. He was narrowly defeated in the 2000 election.

Charlie Ward won the 93 Heisman Trophy in 93 as a QB of Florida State, but opted for the NBA draft. These are some great interesting facts that most people don’t know about the Nba Players. Most of these players are very talented & are capable of playing more than one sport.
