Compare/contrast Brutus vs. Cassius
In the play Julius Caesar written by William Shakespeare there were two groups against each other and they were the conspiracy vs. the Roman Republic. The leaders for the conspiracy were Brutus and Cassius, and the leaders for the Roman republic were Antony, Octavian and Polonius. Although for the conspirator’s the leader Cassius is more suitable to lead the assassination plot and to lead the civil war which follows the assassination of Julius Caesar. Brutus and Cassius are able to persuade others to do things, both did not want Julius Caesar to become King, and both leaders were military strategists. Cassius and Brutus were both able to influence and persuade other’s. Cassius first came up with the plan to kill Caesar, but in his plot he needed Brutus to side with the conspiracy. In doing so he needed to persuade Brutus that if Caesar was to become king that it would be bad for the Republic, in which he succeeded. Now that Brutus was on the conspiracy’s side, Brutus helped the conspirator’s because the Roman Republic loved, and honored him, and believed every word he addressed. In conclusion Cassius and Brutus were both leaders for the conspiracy. If everything would have went Cassius’s way, most likely the conspirator’s would be leading the Roman Republic, and maybe Antony, Octavian, and Polonius would have been the one’s to commit suicide. Cassius was the best in persuading others compared to Brutus, and would have been a better leader in the assassination plot against Julius Caesar. He also would have helped in making better military strategies for the conspiracy, in leading to a victory. Cassius would be more suitable to lead the assassination plot and to lead in the civil war, which follows the assassination of Julius Caesar. here is no need to kill Antony and so they don’t, and at Caesar’s funeral Brutus asked the crowd to stay and listen to Antony’s speech, which the crowd did. Both Cassius and Brutus did not want Caesar to become the new Ruler, but both had different reasons. Cassius didn’t want Caesar to become the ruler because he would rather have been Ruler himself.
