Baz Lurmann

Baz Lurhamann (real name BazMark Anthony Luhrmann), born in 1962, is known throughout households most famously for his directing, writing and production work on the hit film Moulin Rouge, he is also well known for his chart topping song ‘Everybody’s Free to Wear Sunscreen’ released in 1999.

Critics have not always agreed with the way in which Luhrmann works, saying his films are completely false, however this has not stopped him becoming one of the most famous and most accredited directors of the modern day. I personally am a huge fan of his work, and would have to say that my favourite examples of his works are ‘Strictly Ballroom’ (1992), ‘William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet (1996) and (my personal favourite) ‘Moulin Rouge’ (2001). I have chosen to focus mainly on these three films not only because they are personal favourites, but also there are many patterns recognisable within these films.
