When we consider all the problems we have in one day those are just little things compared to what the president has to go through. Nixon’s problems as President are some examples of this. The purpose of this paper is to discuss how Nixon tried to cover up his problems with the Watergate and the affects that followed it.
Nixon’s first problem as President was not ending the Vietnam War. This made many critics and people of the United States hate him. Nixon was determined that he would do everything in his power to get rid of his enemies. Later in the case special prosecutor Leon Jaworski requested tapes that Nixon refused to give to him. Then on July 24, 1974 the Supreme Court ordered Nixon to give them up. Then July 27-30 the House of Judiciary Committee had already completed its investigation and recommended three articles of impeachment against President Nixon. (Watergate Affair) These articles charged him with obstruction of justice in the investigation of the break in at the Democratic National Headquarters in the Watergate complex; Abuse of power through misuse of the Internal Revenue Service for political purposes, illegal wiretapping, establishment of a private investigation unit that engaged in unlawful activities, and interference with the lawful activities of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, central intelligence agency, the Department of Justice and other government bodies.
