A taboo is a social strong prohibition. The taboos have formed through the years by the experiences of people. Breaking of the taboos may result in rejection from society. As every nation has faced different experiences, all cultures have their own taboos. In our country, most severe taboos could be seen on ethnicity, politics, and sexuality. Since the prejudice could be considered as the basis of taboos, the concept of taboo involves negativity in it’s own nature. Therefore only the negative effects, as a result of prejudice, of taboos on social life could be arguable. The research that was conducted by the Hacettepe University reveals that 58.7 percent of mothers between 20 and 29 years old have no idea about sexual education, and almost all of them define sexual contact in a wrong way.
