the publicity that these pint sizes murderers are getting is adding to the problem. the schools should be paying more attention to individual student's behavior, if they seem to be bieng overly picked on, violent tendancies amongst certain peer groups such as sports teams and students with anger problems. such incedents are bound to cause problems when the students see that certain people in power wouldn't even be bothered to stop the other who started it in the first place.

Some parents expect the schools to raise their kids for them, to make sure they stay on the right path. That's an impossible demand on their part. Schools certainly play a large and important part in getting kids ready to be a positive part of society, but it always starts at home. That's where the groundwork should be laid. If that basis isn't there, there's not much the teachers can do.

There's too much concern about the glass ceiling for women and too little concern over what the effect a two income family has on the children. Family and children should come first for both parents. People have eternal life, corporations and other fictitious person entities do not. There's too much of the "you only go around once" materialist mentality in our culture and genuine religious and family values get trampled.

Maybe the solution from the school end is very small neighborhood campuses with fewer students so that no clique or social group can dominate? Plus, parents need to be brought into the picture. They need to take responsibility for their kids wherever their kids are.

Societies that do set up moral guidelines have a much better chance of survival rate, and therefore leave evidence of their existance, in the form of historical records. While not all societies will have the same morals, they will usually all arrive at a similar resolution to a common problem.

One should not have to "teach" children that murder is a bad thing. This is part of character development and many psychologists say that the first five years are the character development years.
