At the stroke of the midnight hour, between a few seconds of 31 December, 2000 and 1st January 2001, the third millennium was born. The birth of the new millennium was celebrated with great joy, enthusiasm and spirit all over the world, as the global media projected a new millennium image everywhere. It was indeed a landmark in human history and on that auspicious occasion, prayers were held all over the world. We should make it an era of peace and prosperity. But the thinking seems to be unfavourable for such a step. Life today is a struggle of man against problems. Problems are increasing day by day. Let us come together, think together and work together to face these problems with courage and conviction. There is need for a political will, democratic spirit, dynamic leadership and collective responsibility to put an end to the present day complex problems. This is essential for the safety, security and progress of man on earth. In a nutshell, we should create a world without fear and without hunger, a world where people will freely choose the path of development, world where there will be ample opportunities to all, a world which will give up high expenditure on war weapons and earmark such funds
The 21st century will be full of challenges and promises of the Information Age, It will affect all spheres to society, governments, educational institutions, industry and commerce, homes and citizens worldwide. Thus the advent of the third millennium has brought in an era of information society. The new era is the result of rapid changes brought about by the new technology and the cyber world. Obviously, the information society offers vast scope and opportunities to human beings to identify information, to evaluate information, and exchange information for the benefits of the citizens the world over. In an information society, every human being will have freedom to land in the cyber space in search of information. Information technology is a source for total development, for improving the quality of life and for promoting better service to mankind. It helps man to be more intelligent, informative, productive and competitive in the fast changing world. In our present day society, there is erosion of values and degeneration in every sphere of activity. Our vision for the 21st Century should strive hard to lay a strong foundation of character in the minds of our children and shape our vision into reality. In India Population growth is going out of control. Population explosion and the associated problems are becoming more and more curious year after year.This has created scarcity of different resources for the people. Any further pressure of population will only lead to the collapse of the Socio economic system. Family Planning is the one and only way to achieve progress. It is a question of Planning the life of every individual every family and every nation.More awareness should be spread so that people accept the two child norm as a Patriotic and constitutional duty.
