The world today is composed of various controversial gun issues. Firearms depicted in movies, music, videogames, and television have created a plethora of arguments. Some problems illustrated over this matter comes in form of censorship. Violence and lyrics are the most popular forms of media that are censored. These restrictions often violate many of the founding freedoms of American society, and place limitations on the entertainment experience.As movies become progressively violent in cinemas today, people start blaming them for many of societies problems. Some main arguments that pro-censorship protesters use when discussing this topic are that people commit hate crimes because of the violence depicted in movies. What they do not realize is that the guns do not breed violence, however, other problems lead to violence. The definition of violence is a very intricate and has many different perspectives. Many people say “poverty, racism, inequality, chemical imbalances in the brain, and toy guns” are the underlying causes for violence and aggression (The Causes of Aggression). By this media receives a vast increase in sales distribution and ratings. Firearms continue to leave its mark on the entertainment world. Many of the big stars in Hollywood got where they are now by employing guns in their big box office hits. Actors such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, and Harrison Ford all have earned their million through the use of firearms in their films. Underneath America’s core lies various forms of firearms that has helped to develop the country we are today. When the Columbine High School shooting took place, many believed that music was a source and a motive for the violence. The shooters were listeners of the heavy metal band Marilyn Manson. Marilyn Manson, like many other bands, conveys hate and violence through their lyrics (Stand up to censorship). Being one of the most popular heavy metal bands, Marilyn Manson’s following is huge. It consists of a variety of children, teenagers, and adults. To say that whoever listens to Marilyn Manson is violent and dangerous is naïve.
