Mozart Biography
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg on January 27, 1756, son of Leopold Mozart. At a very early age he showed musical gifts; as early as age six he was playing before the Bavarian elector and the Austrian empress. Mozart and his family went on tour from 1763 to 1766, during which Mozart played for many French and English royal families. Instrumental works in his final years include piano sonatas, three string quartets written for the King of Prussia, his last four symphonies, and his Clarinet Concerto. He died December 5, 1791 in Vienna before finishing his Requiem. He was buried in a Vienna suburb with little ceremony and an unmarked grave. In 1777, Mozart determined to find a post elsewhere as the opportunity in Salzburg was limited for such a gifted composer. He was sent with his mother to Munich and Mannheim, but found no position there. While in Mannheim, he composed for piano and flute, an
