Motivation, Theories and Principles.
Motivation is a way in which we gear our selves or to reach a goal, or to reach success. Motivation is used in every case. There is an old saying you can take a horse to the water but you cannot force it to drink, it will drink only if it's thirsty - so with people. We will do what they want to do or otherwise motivated to do, whether it is to reach high grades or to gain knowledge, we must be motivated or driven to it, either by ourselves or through external stimulus. .
For a student to feel motivated, I believe that they must have an inner desire to learn. As I feel that if students are forced to learn information that they have no interest in, then they will not be motivated. Also a student must feel inspired by what they are learning, otherwise they will not reach academic success.
There are several factors that motivate me as a student, these are to have an interest in the subject I am learning, to reach my personal performance levels, to know within myself that I am doing the correct work and not confusing myself with information that I am not really fully aware about, whether I shall gain knowledge from what I am learning and also the most important for me is the final outcome of work completed.
When I am given an assignment to complete my first thought is whether I will find the particular topic interesting. This is my first concern as I feel that if I am not fully interested in the topic then how can I be enthusiastic when completing the work. Having an interest in the subject is very important as it determines the degree of performance that is put into the assignment.
If I do not have an interest in the topic, then I feel less confident in completing the work to the best of my ability. This leads me to think whether I can reach academic success. This is a safety point as I begin to feel as if I am not capable of doing the work. I begin my research, which is the basis of my assignment, offering myself a safety net.
