Over the centuries, people throughout the world have accepted controversial music as part of their life. Some may have interpreted the meanings of the lyrics seriously and considered them as one of the factors that has been damaging their society as well as their livelihood. Others simply laid their visions within the limits of entertainment. The two contradicting ideas started in the 1970’s, when hip-hop was introduced as a form of entertainment (“Contemporary Urban Music”). This new fashion became very popular among the youngsters because it allowed them to freely express their feeling without any fear of punishment. Many assume that no harm could result from projecting things that lies within reality, while others pointed out that hip-hop music is a way for kids to learn about violence through the lyrics being used. Some may say that lyrics of some controversial songs are the factors that bring danger to society, but others claim that controversial music is not the only cause of social problems.
