In November vs. Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
Mother Nature, at its best, is the most beautiful and glorious thing ever to be seen by mankind. When mankind is at an enlighten state, they can truly enjoy this picture. Although Robert Frost and Archibald Lampman have different writing styles, they are able to capture the true essence of mother earth. The poems “In November” and “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” are both about a man traveling to a point but “In November” is about a quest to discover oneself while the other is about keeping a promise. In the poems “In November” and “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”, the magnetism of Mother Nature and the themes of tension within human nature and the struggle to finish a quest, are shown the mood, poetic techniques and sound techniques. Although similar are these areas, the two poems contrast in the tone; one is more dark and intense than the other. Establishing a mood to any literary piece is always important. If we can all reach the state that these men are in, we would become better people and have fewer problems in our lives. to be a mission to accomplish a task. When one reads this poem, they become at ease and relaxed. The scenes are described as a very slow paced, and you can only sit back watch nature take its place. The reader gets a sense of empathy for the persons and from reading the poems, you can feel their emotions and how they are determined to finish their task. By establishing the moods in these poems, Robert Frost and Archibald Lampman are able to make these two poems more interesting and meaningful.
