Caucasia Wound
Russia is trying to gain its power after suffering with the break up of Soviet Union in 1991. Losing a lot of blood while the birth of new Russia pushed it to a war with Caucasian publics to gain his power back. Russia has sacrificed a lot of money and human lives for this. But this effort has not proved the strength of Russia however it shows the weakness of Russia. War between Caucasian people and Russia is based on different reasons from one side to another side. For Caucasian populace nationalist ideas and religious factors are very important. But for Russia reasons are different. Petrol, land and holding the world order in their hand comes heavier. Actually we can divide reasons to two main parts. One is the political reasons and the other is the old-emotional reasons. We will investigate world order, petrol, underground resources and geo-strategic importance under political reasons and we will investigate nationalist-revenge thoughts under emotional reasons. In 1991 Soviet Union collapsed with causing an authority vacuum in Russian lands. A lot of country rebelled for their independence and some of them also announced their independence by using the advantage of the authority vac
Nationalist ideas are also important for Russian. With the First World War defeat, Second World War wounds and Communism regime faults, Russian folk started to miss the Russian Empire days. This yearning can be accepted as a reason for Russia. We can also call this as a revenge thought. Although all of this, revenge thought lost its importance even we can bury this thought from our minds to the history. Chechen movement started before the break up of the SU. The year 1990 is very interesting. In this year Chechen-Ingush Soviet Socialist Republic announced his autonomy. Dudayev and radical side gain weight in Chechen national movement and “All Chechens Public National Congress”.(Journal ) In September 1 congress approve the decision of Chechnya Republic’s independence. All of these became before the other countries rebellion. Maybe the other countries effected from these. Last but not the least important thing for the war is religion. Different religions pushed people of Caucasia to rebellion and to independence war. They fell different from Russian people themselves. Their religion, way of life, thoughts, and race were different. So their necessities were different too. Russia was making pressure to Muslims in Caucasia. Especially Caucasian populace suffered in the years of Communism. Their mosques destroyed by Communist Russia. So this forced them to the independence war naturally. We can also include thought of Jihad. They can not give up their war until they lose last drop of their blood. Because their ancestors had killed on this way. Caucasia is the richest place for oil reserves after Saudi Arabian lands. In 1997 United States Ministry of Foreign Affairs claim that Caucasia zone has oil more than 200 billion barrel (State Department Report to Congress, April 1997) .This is said by American authorities frequently.
