Violence in entertainment
Violence in entertainment has been a problem in this past decade in how it affects the lives of children. Not only violence and adult material in television and movies have an effect on children, but also the content in music listened to by children and video games children play. I believe certain measures should be taken to reduce the bad content in entertainment, but also parents should pay closer attention to what their children watch and listen to. The movie industry has gone a long way in what they show in the movie. Back in the 1950’s and 60’s there wasn’t too much violence, strong language or adult content in movies. In present times, those are some common things shown in every movie. Also back then, there weren’t any advertisements directed to young children. Every day on television shows or movies, no matter what channel or what movie you’re watching, there will most likely be an advertisement for an R- rated or PG-13 movie. Most of these movies are not proper for young children. Kids nowadays think that movies with guns and violence are “cool.” Any person now can change the channel to watch an R rated or PG-13 movie. My niece also watches the same shows. She only watches educational shows and only plays educational games. On the other hand my little cousins watch shows such as Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z, they don’t like educational shows. Unlike my niece and I, and the rest of my family they get bad grades and can’t live without T.V. Overall I believe all these things can affect the outcome on a child’s life but that can be changed for the better. The movie industry, record companies, video game companies, and television need to change but they won’t change too much. What needs to change is the parents’ supervision of children. They need to know what their children watch and make sure it’s prope
