Lord of the Flies –by William Golding

The novel Lord of the Flies is a very interesting book, which contains many messages in it.

The author of this book is William Golding, who was born in Cornwell in 1911, and his first novel Lord

of the Flies was published in 1954.

The novel is written in the third person perspective, an omniscient author. The Lord of the

Flies takes place on an island during World War ¥±.

Also, the main characters are Ralph, Jack, Piggy, and Simon. Ralph is a fair-headed boy of

about 12 years of age. He is interested in doing things in the “proper?ways. He wants to keep the

fire going and for people to work hard. Jack is about 12 years old and is very strong. He seems to be

very domineering towards the end of the book, which is his true personality. Although we never find

out Piggy’s real name, Piggy is a fat boy with asthma and very bad vision. He sees life scientifically,

and can’t understand why people fight. Moreover, a small, shy boy of about 8 years of age, Simon is
