The Chudnovsky Brothers
The Chudnovsky Brothers, Gregory and David, were born in Kiev, Ukraine after World War II. So far they have published 154 paper and 12 books on number theories and mathematical physics. Gregory’s first paper was published at age 16. Their mother and father Malka Benjaminovna Chudnovsky, a retired engineer, and Volf Grigorevich Chudnovsky first introduced the boys to mathematics at an early age. Their father died in 1985 of heart failure. Their mother currently lives with Gregory and his wife on the West side of Manhattan near Columbia University. Gregory’s wife, Christine Pardo Chudnovsky is an attorney in a small firm in Manhattan. David’s wife, Nicole Lanne-Grace Chudnovsky, is a political-affairs officer at the United Nations. Gregory Volfovich Chudnovsky was diagnosed at 12 with myasthenia gravis, “chronic autoimmune disorder that results in progressive skeletal muscle weakness.” After being diagnosed with this, his parents asked permission to leave the Ukraine to get their son treatment. But the KGB had other plans for the brothers, who are Jewish. David says that KGB operatives beat him and cracked his skull and also attacked his parents. Only through the intervention of U.S. Sen.
