Resolving Conflicts

In the wonderful world of being a blacksmith your sole purpose is to create works of art. With the use of fire, one can create diverse pieces of metal ore. As the work is begun, large pieces of thin metal is placed into the heated kiln. Once the metal begins to reach to its melting point, it creates a gallant red-hot glow. From there, the ore is pounded vigorously into shape with the mighty hammer and anvil, at this point; pieces are either created or destroyed.

This analogy can be closely related to steps associated with assembling a working team. The ore represents the diverse team members assembling for a common goal. The fire relates to the unavoidable conflicts that awaits teams in their quest to development. Finally the force of the hammer and anvil is like the mechanics of solid conflict resolution techniques. Techniques if applied correctly can successfully develop a team from a diverse group of people or permanently disperse them if mismanaged.

Conflict resolution is said to be the solution or the answer to problems that arise during team development. During this discussion, we will identify two main types of conflict that arise among teams as they development. It is our collective be

Throughout history, mankind has suffered tremendously in miscommunication. It had severe catastrophic consequences, which tend to invoke exorbitant amounts of tension and aggression. These human characteristics can lead to communication breakdown, which ultimately lead to conflicts. The need for effective conflict resolution has been prevalent throughout history, as small flare-ups had led to devastation and atrocities of world wars.

On December 23, 2003, The Commandant of the Marine Corps mandates a project, to all Non-Commission Officers assigned to fixed wing Units. The purpose of the project is to provide the opportunity for non-infantry unit contributions to improving the theory of the basic infantry foxhole fighting position or the fixed base of fire fighting positions. The team will consist of a five-member team of Corporals who must meet at a minimum 3 times a week, one hour at a time. The final project must consist of a minimum 3000 word essay based on the essentials of building a fighting foxhole or fixed base of fire position and must be accompanied by a detailed diagram, displaying step by step of the development the process.
