The Philippines & its Government

Although there was no group discussion in the last meeting we've had, last Thursday, November 27 proved to be the most fruitful class discussion we've had since we were able to discuss a lot of concepts, specifically that of Hegel's. This discussion had a huge impact on the ideas that I once thought were true especially with that of the conception of history. For more than ten years that I have been studying, historic has always been those events which are important not until I came to know in this course that history is just any event in our everyday activities but those that are significant that can bring about change are not historic but heroic. I have to admit that this was the first time I've heard such differentiation and it was a good thing that I've learned it now than forever think that to be a part of history is to do extraordinary things. Right now I"m part of history but its up to me to be a history maker and not just be historic but also heroic.
While discussing the ideas of Hegel, a question was given for us to answer in this reaction paper. We were asked what government the Philippines have now and what government should we have to be able top offer a better life to its people.
I"d definitely say that we have a weak government. There are no firm laws, decisions of our leaders keep on changing and most citizens of our country wants to go abroad if only will be given a chance. Like what was said in the discussion,"worst government is better that no government", but taking the case of our country, with what is going on everywhere, it was like we don't have government at all. It is as if those people with authority are just ornamnents. No government means no laws to keep the people from coinciding with the circle of rights of others, we do have government but crimes and other misdemeanors are all around us. Our laws cannot prevent its people from violating them and the people in the government cannot do anything to remedy the situation.
