Flowing Water
The different bodies of water are extremely vital to our existence on earth. There are many factors that contribute to the water’s characteristics depending on where the body of water lies. The water starts up in the mountains where the headwater streams are small, shallow, swift and cold. There are a lot of nutrients that get carried downstream from the mountain top. As the water moves downstream, the volume of flow increases, the channel becomes wider and deeper, and the waters are not as swift compared to those on top of the mountains. In the lowlands, the water is the exact opposite of the water on top of the mountains. The flow is slow, and the bottom is soft with silt and mud which is inhabited by aquatic plants and animals instead of swift headwater organisms. Along with the war
From Shark River, three chemical tests were taken on the water in three different places. The same tests were taken from the jetty, sandy beach, and the mudflat. For each place we tested Dissolved Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, pH, Chloride (salinity), Nitrite, Phosphate, and depth, Secchi Disk, Temperature from the air, surface, and bottom. For the jetty following the order stated above was; 0ppm., 2ppm., 7, 70.77ppt., 40ppm., 1ppm., 40cm., 40cm., 11 degrees Celsius, 10 degrees Celsius, 12 degrees Celsius.
