¡°Did you know that the dragon was symbol of evil and death during Middle Ages?¡± As seen in the movies or fairy books, the dragon was known as a creature that stands against the righteous events. However, every other culture and history of each country¡¯s, dragon mythology changed diversely throughout time. During the Middle Ages, dragon mythology played major roles in the society. Most men believed that power dwelled within the dragon. In modern day society, fascination of mean about the dragon still existed in the new terms of belief and later, the idea of what a dragon looks like has become increasingly stereotypical and followed by common traits of dragons.During the middle ages, dragons were symbol of menace, evil, and death. Researchers have discovered the following: Winged dragons made its first western appearances in the works of ancient Greece and in the bible, but it was medieval Europe whose imagination was most captured by the stubby-legged, fired breathing dragons. For example, in China dragon was a divine bringer of rain, necessary for the good of all. Also, the dragon was symbol of the good emperor whose wisdom and divine power assured the well being of his subjects. Many Chinese legends draw connections between the dragon and the emperor because dragons were believed as special protectors. Also, men in China said, ¡°the dragon is a prominent character of parade on the Chinese new year¡± (Leach 323).
