The play La Bamba is the story of Ritchie Valenzuela a Hispanic American teenager who worked as a laborer on a plantation with his family and dreamt of stardom. Ritchie idolized his brother Bob, with whom he had a strong friendship as well as a volatile rivalry. Bob would appear from time to time on his motorcycle, often creating trouble and fleeing as quickly as he came. However, more than he idolized his brother, he admired music.
