Tony looks back, later in his life, at how he has been affected by what had happened. He has now settled down and has a family and a job. But he is still rebellious, and still steals money, but only for the sake of extra income. He is now more careful than when stealing.

This story could have been a love story between Tony and Doris, much like Romeo and Juliet, they are on different sides of the tracks. Tony, who is poor, falls in love with the wealthy Doris. Tony never goes to Doris’s house, we don’t know if it’s because he is not welcome, or has never been invited.
