Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) is outdated, idealistic, expensive, and has no future in a digital age. With reference to the history of PSB, discuss the extent to which you agree with this statement.

My views on this statement are somewhat varied. I agree with the statement that it is outdated to an extent, because time is passing and people are always looking for new ideas. People expect greater things in modern day society. I do not agree with the point that it is expensive. Annual license fee is around one hundred pounds, whereas Sky/Digital television is around thirty pounds a month. On the other hand there are a lot more channels on Sky/ Digital, so value for money is very important. The amount of tasteless television on Sky/Digital television compared to the “quality” of the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 is considerable. This is the reason Public Service Broadcasting is better value for money in my view.I do not agree with statement that PSB has no future in the digital age. The BBC have an extremely high level of respect all over the world as they are the original broadcasting company . Modern age children’s television can consist of educative
