Anti Semitism was apparent in the very beginning of the play. Not everyone was introduced by using their name and religion but Shylock was. Shylock was not the only one to be persecuted. His daughter Jessica had to deal with enough of it on her own. Her only saving grace was that she was going to marry Lorenzo, many people still would not acknowledgments her as a person. Her servent Lancelet told her that she would be very lucky if your not your fathers child but it would not matter anyway because then she would be a bastard child and would have been born with her mothers sin on her head.

In the end of the play Shylock’s greed over powers him and he looses everything which is a Jewish stereo type that all Jews are greedy. Shylock was taught a big lesson, he was taught that the good always win as well as learn the laws before to make a deed to them. Portia was fair to Shylock, but she found away around the system and got what she wanted out of the deal. Portia did what was right as well as get the Jew once more. Shylock was a good sport about the hole thing he realized the error of his ways, but when he asks Bassanio a Christian for forgiveness Bassanio denies it which is very non Christian like. The last piece of Anti Semitism was the reason Shylock lost everything. Shylock was a alien in Venice because he was a Jew and therefore had to give up everything to the government because the threatened Antonio’s life.
