18th amendment

The eighteenth amendment says after one year from the ratification of this article the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject of jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes is hereby prohibited.

The eighteenth amendment to the constitution of the United States was proposed to the Senate in 1917, it was passed by a one-sided vote after only thirteen hours of debate. When the House of Representatives accepted it a few months later, the debate upon the amendment as a whole, occupied only a single day.
