Communism, a political system or social organization based on common property or upon equal distribution of wealth. The origin of this idea lied deep between the Western thought. Communism began with theories by a German philosopher by the name of Karl Marx with their publication of the communist manifesto in 1848. With this theory of equality, that poverty and harmony throughout a country, people who believe in Marx's theory came into power. Lenin was the first to put this idea into practice in the Russian government, and many followed his idea. From his new government was the rise of the Soviet Union. Later after Lenin’s death, a man by the name of Joseph Stalin had taken charge. Stalin ruled by terror for most of his years in office. He didn't allow anybody to question his ideas. Stalin killed all that had helped him rise to power because he thought they would threaten his rules. Yet, his ruthless leadership seemed extremely harsh, was it necessary? Were there any accomplishments or was it a waste of over 7 million innocent lives. Through history there's always been a discrepancy and how society should be run. After Lenin’s his death in 1924, Joseph Stalin’s ruthless policies begin to create a dislike of the communist ideas. Stalin’s power of implementation was viewed by many diplomatic onlookers. Countries founded to be ruthless while at the same time intriguing. Cuba, China, Albania and Hungary all were for the Communist idea, but other countries such as Britain, U.S. and even Canada were somewhat threatened by it.
