Cigarette smoking is a major problem in the world. Over 1200 Americans die every day from diseases inherited from smoking. This is genocidal! It would make sense to ban cigarettes altogether and save hundreds of thousands of lives every year, but it’s not that simple. Tobacco companies make way too much money from selling cigarettes to go down without a fight. Obviously some people value a profit more than human life. I personally would like to have an amendment passed prohibiting cigarettes, but that is very hard to pass. Therefore, I believe that the best way to get people to stop smoking would be to dramatically raise the tax rates on cigarettes, and start a new government program dedic
