Religion in politics and politics in religion has been inexistence since time immemorial. In the ancient times, the kings had dharma gurus in their cabinets. Erstwhile, the dharma gurus used to give advice to the kings on issues from the religion point of view and on righteous and wrong. In those times, the dharma gurus were given a lot of importance. There are also instances when they played a prominent role in influencing major political decisions.
