Of greatest importance, this idea essentially symbolizes democracy as a whole; a government of the people, for the people. In order for the people to be on the side of the government, the people need to be a part of those governing. It is the privilege of a freeman to vote and influence in elections of the state, especially an election determining the taxes of that state, that have been denied by Parliament. Americans realized in order for the government and laws to be fair, they needed to have a say in such issues. These strong and passionate ideas are what made up the democracy of America which still exists
