Understanding darwin and god

The fight between religion and evolution has been strong sense Darwin first introduced his idea to the world. The thought of a God not being the creator of all life was blasphemy in the eyes of society and especially in the church. Those who believed Darwin’s ideas were sometimes shunned from society. However, the theory of evolution, only gets stronger with time, as more and more people come to realize this, some people want to believe that both could be true, to try and make evolution and creationism compatible. If we want to believe that, if it is possible, some aspects of each side must be altered. First we must realize that evolution is a theory not a fact. You can interpret the Bible to allow for both creationism and evolution. The way we live our lives socially may also need to be changed. If we take the general concepts from each belief, we can incorporate one with the other, hopefully finding an equal medium.

It was believed, in England before 1859 when Darwin first introduced his book The Origin of Species, that all species, even humans, had been created by the God of the Judeo-Christian tradition.1 The evolution that Darwin ‘preaches’ of in his book is only a theory, just like cr

is not the central tenet of Christianity’.2 These words speak exactly the type of thinking that is needed in today’s society in order to not lose your faith in God, yet make sure what evolution can teach us does not slip by. By being closed minded and believing that there is only one real way to believe in God we shut ourselves out from new beliefs that we may agree with even more than current beliefs. Religion is different for every person; finding God is an individual and spiritual experience that needs not be tainted by things like the Bible, strict church interpretations, and the dilution of society into religion. Both ways of thinking believe different things, however, if each isn’t taken so literally a ‘happy medium’ between evolutionism and creationism may be found. When the ‘happy medium’ is reached both can be believed each persons own individual way can be expressed, and you may lead a better life because of it. Following the way of God and spreading peace and love through his people is really all that God could want from you, just to be a good person. Understanding that evolution is a theory and not a fact, that both beliefs are equals and each individual person has their own views will allow each person to find themselves religiously, diversifying religion even further. The struggle between religion and the theory of evolution is at a state that both should be taken as possibilities, each could happen; it’s up to you to figure out what you believe. Living your life to the fullest and being the best person you can be are the most important things. Practicing a
