Wonderful World of America
What has America come to? In today’s world there are a lot of killings, robberies, rapes, and other crimes committed everyday. In the documentary, Bowling for Columbine, It showed two adolescent men go on a killing spree in their high school. Besides showing the footage of the two men going on this rampage, the movie showed how easy it was to buy bullets, how African American men are stereotyped to commit a murder every time a killing is heard on the news. In the movie, it also showed how black women and men have to travel at least one to two hours to go to work everyday. Why do these men and women have to travel this far of a distance to work everyday? This people are on welfare traveling these great distances trying to provide for their families. Leave at five or six in the morning and don’t come back until later on in the night. That is not right. These people go to work in fancy, expensive restaurants, five star hotels, and even the malls to make minimum wage. Minimum wage, in one’s opinion, should be for teens starting out in the work force. Some people have to work two jobs in order to provide for themselves and their families. Minimum wage is just not enough to keep a roof over someone’s head, keep the ut
How does the average child get access to a gun? Their parents might have one in their home, or might see someone else in their household with one. Once they get access to that gun, they seem to think that is it cool to have one and then want to show it off. Many of the older kids seem to think it is a form defense. To protect themselves from bullies and other people who treats them badly. Teens seem to think and feel that having a gun will solve all their problems. In reality, having a gun and firing it somebody doesn’t solve the problem, its only creating a bigger one. So why did the two boys go on a deadly rampage in their school? They were outcasts in the school, talked about and bullied, and shunned from their fellow classmates. They probably got fed up with and decide to take matters into their own hands. The simple fact of the matter is, America needs people control. Racism has become a big problem in America in the past century. Having segregated schools, and water fountains, many blacks and civil rights leaders demanded for a change. Blacks would undergo a major struggle to be treated equally and fairly and to get respect. Blacks in the entertainment business broke all color barriers but when they stepped out into the real world, they were the average person out on the street. With the formation the KKK in the late 1800’s, racism wasn’t truly geared to the blacks. Whites who were in this organization hated people that weren’t their skin color. But they also hated Jews, gays, basically someone who wasn’t like them. They would go out on killing rampages against anyone who wasn’t like them, or did something that they didn’t like. That is still an issue today. Another example of racism and sexism is the book, “The Color Purple” by Toni Morrison.
