The article I have read basically declares that twenty-seven states have banned corporal punishment in schools, and many more that can do it, chooses not to. The article lists seven major reasons why corporal punishment does not work. The seven major reasons are 1. Corporal punishment is ineffective, 2. Corporal punishment can lead to abuse, 3. Corporal punishment can unintentionally cause serious harm and damage to students, 4. Corporal punishment trains a child to use violence, 5. Slapping or any kind of physical force on the buttocks is considered sexual violations, 6. Spanking can lower a child’s IQ, and 7. Is that spanking instills fear within the child.

statistics in these states showed no significant improvement when compared to states where corporal punishment is not allowed. Five of the states have higher teen pregnancy rates than the national average.
