Darwin

For over 100 years, the world has been in a deep debate. For over 100 years, the thoughts and observations of an English scientist,Charles Darwin, have been forcing people to think in a very careful and logical way to solve the question of “the origin of the living things” and “the changes they have experienced upto now.In his most important book,”The Origin of Species”(1859),Charles Darwin presents his utopic ideas through some relevant and systematic concepts concerning survival of the fittest, rights of the powerful ones and natural selection. At this point, it seems so important that to examine these concepts and reach some crucial results will inevitably cause us to understand and interpret how the world has changed in all areas including social, political, scientific and also how it will change in the future. In this critique,Darwin’s main ideas given in “The Origin of Species” are examined and interpreted through both analogies and different opinions to help to reach a valid result about them.

First of all, this must be emphasized that in terms of religious beliefs,Darwin was sure that his ideas about evolution and natural selection would be argued both in his day and in the future. With the knowledge of this, alth

As a second point,Darwin claims that the process of Natural Selection occurs if the conditions are favourable to form an “influential” and “strong” change. Because, according to him “accumulating slight, successive, favourable variations can produce no great or sudden modifications;it can act only by short and slow steps”(Darwin,1859).In terms of validity, this notion is also controversial.Darwin and those who support Darwin show the transition period of sea animals into land ones as an example for this notion. Since today in the world there are lots of both sea and land animals which can live in both water and open-air,this idea is supported.A single but an important example of that is amphibium. These animals can live in both water and open-air and as a result of evolution theory, they will live in only open-air in the future which the exact time isn’t known. On the other according to another claim sudden and widespread change after long periods of stability is the main property of general “changes” in the nature of the universe. To be clear, some scientists reject Darwin’s slow and partial evolutionary change theory. If this is the situation, for instance Big-Bang Theory supports this idea, the idea is somehow questionable and must be investigated deeper with an objective view.If Darwin’s ideas about the “speed” of change is that slow, human race will wait for the “suitable”,”favourable” conditions to improve itself both physically and mentally and when the time comes,we will experience our sudden, unexpected change which will probably an ambiguous situation for people.Due to this assumption I am able to construe that this is just a dystopic idea rather than a utopic one.Because according to my perspective this situation will just cause chaos among people. At this point I want to make an assumption.Consider all the requirements of this “sudden change” occured with a sudden(!) change and from that time, the newly-born people will be two or three times cleverer than us.When that child grows and shows very unusual characteristic properties, what can people do?Perhaps they will get into the idea of “the new generation will give harm to humanity itself unless they reduce the number of the newly-born babies which will result in chaos and dehumanisation.Or perhaps they will have tendencies to change their babies’genes which can cause alienation! For this and many other possible reasons, this “sudden change” idea doesn’t seem enough valid to me,honestly.

ough he states(1859) : ”I have never systematically thought much on religion in relation to science, or on morals in relation to society “,he sometimes presented his ideas with some religious issues. For instance, about creation of the God,he claims that the spirit of God passed from each species to another through evolution and so there is no conflict between religion and evolution.Darwin(1859) mentions this as,” I may state that my judgment often fluctuates. . . In my most extreme fluctuations I have never been an Atheist in the sense of denying the existence of a God”.However since in my opinion evolution is a science-based issue rather than a religion-based,I ought to stress that to evaluate his main points we mustn’t attribute them to his beliefs or ideologies but to scientific facts only.
