Snow Parks

Waiting for the first snow of the season is killer. Dreaming about catching major air, riding the rails and hitting the pipes. Then the snow comes in like an unexpected wind and you’re out there living up your pre-season dreams. Around the world there are several great snow parks, but in the United States there are three that deserve to be recognized: Boreal in California, because of its wide variety of parks. Telluride in Colorado for it is known for having the best terrain park in the Southwest, and Snowbird in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah known for its snowfall.

Boreal Ski Resort is located in Boreal, California. Boreal has eight different parks each one made for a specific skill level. The Vans Day Park is five acres and 500 vertical feet of steady jumps, hits and tabletops, a jump that has a ramp leading onto a flat surface with a rail going across the center of it leading off of the ramp. This park is for the intermediate snowboarders and skiers. Vans Kids X Park is one acre with 50 vertical feet of jumps. This park is designed for beginners because it has banked turns, small

park made just for the families, which has rollers, jumps and spines. A spine is a steeper jump that goes up one the sides like an upside down v and has a rail in the middle of it for grinding. Now Boreal is offering a new park just for the snow skaters. This park includes rails, a quarter pipe and small kickers; short jumps about three feet tall. The last park is Boreal’s new Super Pipe Dragon, which has 12-17 foot walls. Boreal is not just one park, but also eight on a lovely mountain in California for the whole family and different skill levels.

park, which includes a fun box, ramps, and multiple small scale rails (Mountain News Corp.) What they did not consider a snow park had a half pipe, rails, hits and tabletops.

The last but not least best place for a terrain park would be Snowbird in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah. Not really known for their snow park but for their 1300cm of snowfall. The mountain really didn’t have a snow terrain park tell this year. (Mountain News Corp.) At Snowbird they finally put forth some effort into making an actual park. They call it Baby Thun
