“The United States is being attacked; the United States is being attacked!” These words of pain, surprise, and confusion were apparently heard after two planes hit the World Trade Center towers, one hitting the Pentagon, and another crashing into a Pennsylvania field. People were wondering how terrorists could enter the country and hijack four planes under the government’s nose. Blame was dispersed among the people, but accusation was placed on the immigration laws. Many people want America’s borders to close for the safety of the citizens within the country. The borders closing down might sound like a good idea, but conflicts are developed from this thought. Strict legislation on immigration would attack the culture and economy of the United States of America. The United States of America has been called a giant melting pot. America is called such name because of the diversity among the people culturally. When America was first established as a country, immigrants came here with the hopes of becoming free men.
