Papua New Guinea is home of the Trobrianders. It is part of the “Oceania,” located between the South Pacific Ocean, east of Indonesia. It can also be read on a map by the coordinates 6.00 South and 147.00 East of the Equator. Its land total is 452,860 km, primarily made up of Lowland rain forests and Montane rain forests (typically located at or above 2000m). Papua New Guinea shares the island of New Guinea with Indonesia, which shares with them on of the worlds largest swamps along the southwest coast.
The Population of Papua New Guinea is about 5,295,816. The average age of people living there is 20.8 years, which seams very young compared to the United States. Their infant mortality rate is 54 deaths for every 1000 live births. The life expectancy is a lot closer between males and females, unlike the United States were females out live males by a large number, the female life expectancy is 66.42 years and the male’s life expectancy is 62.07 years. This life expectancy is about ten to fifteen years different than that of an average American. Not much was mentioned about the reason for short lifespan, but statistics show
