Place can alter the tensions and moods of the performance, Role is central to the dramatic action and Tension is the main driving force.

During the play there were many references to the renovation of his grandparents house. The symbolism of Richard’s house is a reflection of his life. The house is getting older; it is falling apart and is in desperate need of repair. Throughout the whole play Richard comes up with various excuses to avoid renovating; ‘There is no time’, ‘My enthusiasm has temporarily slipped’, and ‘I’m still getting used to things’.
