How fast food affects our lives

Researchers say fast food consumption has grown dramatically in recent years. The fast food restaurant has permeated every part of our country so much that, in some areas, it seems as though every street corner houses at least one of them. The effect of fast food on America has been devastating in terms of health concerns. Obesity rates for children have doubled over the past 20 years. America is becoming more and more the “fat country” and a large part of this problem is due to fast food. The numbers of people affected by obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and strokes (all caused in part of overeating unhealthy foods) increase every year.

Let’s go through the list of unhealthy food in our fast food restaurants. Let’s start with the burger. Every classic burger contains at least one juicy slab of beef as its foundation. These fat-filled patties not only drastically increase a person’s fat and cholesterol levels but can also contain a strain of harmful bacteria called Escheria coli 0157:H7.


You should avoid all consumption of commercially produced burgers, fries, and soft drinks. The next time you see a friend bite into a juicy burger, think about what makes that burger “juicy”. When you smell that pleasant smell of hot fries, imagine the heart attack they may cause. As you watch your friend gulp down that soda, remember the dangers of chemicals in the soft drink. Maybe someday Americans will observe the warnings and advice to live “fast food free” lives.

Many instances have been recorded all over the world of fast food customers contracting food poisoning from burgers contaminated by E. coli. When eaten, this deadly germ enters the digestive tract, it multiplies and spreads throughout the body. In several rare cases, E. coli infects the kidneys, causing severe illness and even death.
