One symbol that is ongoing is the comparison of the girl to a fragile bird. This symbol of the bird seems to represent the weak women and the man is the steady pine. Like a bird she is on the ledge willing to make her flight but she knows that the air cannot hold her and her wings will fail. Her body disappears and can be hidden like a small skeleton and the only traces of her memory that remain is her note like a feather or footprint in the snow. Another symbol that is used are these glaciers and weight that represent her failures to herself and her parents.
